It does not matter if it is astrology or numerology because the power resides in one’s belief. Astrology is the belief we have in the power of cosmic bodies and numerology is the divine or mystical power residing in the numbers. The numerical value of the letters in words of names and ideas are determined to follow-up predictions. Numerology is often considered to be paranormal, an art which is beyond scientific explanations.
HOW DID NUMEROLOGY COME INTO PRACTICE?
Great mathematicians believed that numbers are superior and had greater actuality having practical concepts. Christianity too played a major role in the building the belief of people in numbers and its divine relations. St. Augustine of Hippo and written that numbers are the universal language that is offered by the deity to humans as the confirmation of the truth.
The interesting part is that numerology as an art was not favoured by the Christians, though they continued to believe that numbers are sacred. Arguments have been made for the presence of numerology in the Bible in spite of the church’s resistance to it. Nobody can claim the truth but we can believe that numerology emergence somewhere revolving here.
The numerology was too prey to the human mind. Constant improvisations and developments were taken for the practice and what we all know today, is basically “modern numerology”.
TRADITIONAL SYSTEMS
Although we will be discussing the on-going method used by numerologists, more or less all of know. So, today we will discuss some traditionally practised systems.
PYTHAGOREAN SYSTEM
Also, known as Pythagorean Numerology the system was introduced by the father of Western Numerology and Greek philosopher – Pythagoras. He began his theory by discovering the numerical relationship between numbers and musical notes.
This method uses an individual’s name and date of birth. It is believed that the name number reveals the individual’s outer nature, the personality that they represent to the outer world. The numbers are assigned to the letters of the Latin alphabets as follows:
- 1 = a, j, s
- 2 = b, k, t
- 3 = c, l, u
- 4 = d, m, v
- 5 = e, n, w
- 6 = f, o, x
- 7 = g, p, y
- 8 = h, q, z
- 9 = i, r
All you have to do is add the numbers associated for each letter in your full birth name and keep on adding until you get a single digit. In this system, there are 3 master numbers (11, 22, 33) which do not get reduced to a single number. At last, the single-digit number and the birth number are assigned to gain a powerful meaning and significance based on the Pythagoras system.
THE CHALDEAN SYSTEM
The Chaldeans were ancient rulers of Babylonia, therefore the system is also known as the Babylonia Numerology system. Here, it is believed and used to recognize the energy changes occurring when we or someone else speaks or thinks. They do not use the number 9 but is it still considered sacred. They carry out the system using the current name the individual is using because that is the energy that would be currently projected.
The system believes that the first name of an individual reflects their social persona, interests, habits, etc. The middle name talks about soul energy whereas, the last name is related to the domestic influence of the family.
ABJAD SYSTEM
Abjad numerals belong to the Arabic system of numerology. Here, each letter of the Arabic alphabet has a numerical value. The system is the foundation of Science of Cipher and Science of Alphabet.
These were some of the traditional numerology systems followed by different types of people worldwide.
NUMEROLOGY FOR NAMES
We all love to predict the future of our family members, friends and even ourselves. Learning from the internet and interpreting it the next minute, is the most innocent, fun-filled and happy experience for all of us. There is no specific system as to how the numerological predictions have to be conducted. There is always the freedom to choose from your own will.
Basically, each alphabet is given a number from 1 to 9 as we saw in the Pythagorean system. The alphabets can also be distributed between 1 to 8 following the Chaldean system like:
- 1 = a, q, y, i, j
- 2 = b, r, k
- 3 = g, c, l, s
- 4 = d, m, t
- 5 = e, h, n, x
- 6 = u, v, w
- 7 = o, z
- 8 = f, p
Associate each letter of your full name with the numbers and add all of them. You will be getting a 2 digit number which you have to add again. Make sure you have a single-digit left with yourself after all the calculations.
